Sarah Gold, DVMMedical Director

Dr. Gold is the medical director of Furlong’s Soundness Center, and is currently enrolled in the Alternative Residency Training program to obtain board certification in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. As a member of the BW Furlong and Associates veterinary team since 2005, Dr. Gold has tailored her skills and focus to the field of sports medicine and diagnostic imaging. When Dr. Furlong approached her with the idea of building a rehabilitation center, it was a natural fit to have Dr. Gold manage these often complicated cases that require a balance of specific targeted diagnosis, tailored treatment, and conditioning exercise. Through the alternative residency program, Dr. Gold has trained with many top specialists throughout the country, which provides an immeasurable network of expertise that can be provided to each Soundness Center patient almost immediately. Dr. Gold graduated cum laude from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University in 2000 with a degree in Animal Science. Dr. Gold received her veterinary degree from Cornell University as well in 2004. She completed a one-year internship at the Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in the Santa Ynez Valley in California. Upon completion of her internship in 2005, she then joined B.W. Furlong & Associates with a special interest in regenerative medicine, lameness, and diagnostic imaging. During her time at the practice, she has served as assistant team veterinarian to the United States Eventing Team in numerous national and international competitions, including the 2008 Olympics and 2010 World Equestrian Games. Dr. Gold also manages both Equine MRI of New Jersey and Advanced Equine Imaging of Wellington, Florida, as well as providing diagnostic imaging support and rehabilitation advice to referring veterinarians and clients.
